A 22-member business delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) departs for Colombo, Sri Lanka on 16 June, 2025 (Monday). The four-day visit of this trade team, led by DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, is aimed at expanding bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The trade delegates will also explore new business and investment opportunities there.
During this visit DCCI delegates will have several bilateral business forums and B2B match-making sessions with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka, National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the delegates will also meet the Industry Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister and Deputy Finance Minister of Sri Lankan government.
According to recent data, in FY 2023-24, the total bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was only USD 134.06 million. In all the meetings, the DCCI delegation will try to put focus on attracting Sri Lankan investment/joint venture to Bangladesh in the potential sectors like Agro and Food Processing, Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals, Tourism and Hospitality, Renewable Energy, Manufacturing and Industry, Construction and Infrastructure, Logistics and Supply Chain, IT and Digital Services and Financial Services.
