DCCI business delegation to visit Malaysia to expand trade, business and investment

A 39-member business delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), led by DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, will visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 22–25 September 2026 with an aim to strengthen bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Malaysia. The visit will also focus on expanding exports of Bangladeshi products with high potential in the Malaysian market and attracting Malaysian investment to Bangladesh. The High Commission of Bangladesh in Malaysia is extending its overall support and cooperation to the DCCI delegation throughout its visit.

During the visit, the business delegation will hold trade discussions and participate in Business-to-Business (B2B) sessions with the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia on 23, 24 and 25 September, respectively. Through participating in these business networking meetings, Bangladeshi entrepreneurs will have the opportunities to explore avenues for expanding bilateral trade and investment.

The delegates will also participate in one of the world's premier halal trade platforms Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) to be held in Kuala Lumpur on 24 September 2026. This will provide Bangladeshi businesses with a significant opportunity to engage with global halal industry leaders.

In addition, DCCI leadership will pay courtesy calls on Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia Dato Sri Tiong King Sing and Hon’ble Deputy Minister of Finance of Malaysia Liew Chin Tong.

It may be noted that Bangladeshi nationals account for 37% of the total foreign workers employed in Malaysia, who remitted a total of US$3.40 billion to Bangladesh during the 2025–26 fiscal year. In FY2024–25, the total bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Malaysia amounted to approximately US$2.57 billion, with Bangladesh’s imports and exports standing at US$2.293 billion and US$282 million, respectively. In addition, Malaysian entrepreneurs have already invested US$755.48 million in Bangladesh, with significant investments in sectors including telecommunications, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, construction and textiles.
