DCCI Business Institute (DBI) is going to organize an In-person Daylong Workshop on ‘Demand Management and Its Forecast Techniques’, scheduled to be held on 12th August 2022 from 10.00 am- 5.30 pm at DBI, Dhaka Chamber Building (11th floor), 65-66 Motijheel C/A, Dhaka-1000.
Topics Overview in Brief: Demand management is the supply chain management process that balances the customers’ requirements with the capabilities of the supply chain. With the right process in place, management can match supply with demand proactively and execute the plan with minimal disruptions. The process is not limited to forecasting. It includes synchronizing supply and demand, increasing flexibility, and reducing variability. On the other hand, demand forecasting involves techniques including both informal and formal methods, such as educated guesses, quantitative methods, and the use of historical sales data or current data from test markets.
Objectives: The objectives of the training are to make participants aware of the importance of demand management and various forecasting techniques. Virtually every business is based on forecasting. Not all of them are derived from sophisticated methods. However, best-educated guesses about the future are more valuable for purpose of Planning than no forecast and hence no planning. Departments throughout the organization depend on forecasts to formulate and execute their plans. In the supply chain, forecasting can help to deal with the 'bullwhip effect' caused by the distorted flows of information up and down the supply chain.
Contents: Key Concepts of Demand Management, Demand Management in Supply Chain, Types of Demand, Demand Characteristics, Quantitative Analysis and Various Forecasting Techniques, Trend Analysis, Impact of Seasonality in Forecasting Demand, Trend and Seasonality-Adjusted Forecast, Phases in the Forecasting Cycle Process, Material Requirement Planning (MRP), Distribution Resource Planning (DRP, Aggregate Planning and Master Production Schedule (MPS), Bill of Material (BOM), Make-to-Stock, Make-to-Order, and Assembled-to-Order methods and the list goes on.

Facilitator: This training will be conducted Mr. Shankar Kumar Roy, M.Com (DU) and Int’l Diploma in Supply Chain Management (ITC, Switzerland). Mr. Shankar Kumar Roy is a Corporate Trainer and Consultant and currently is engaged as a Consultant at Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association (BCMA) and KPMG Advisory Services Ltd. He was employed as an Advisor (Research and Planning) at M.I. Cement Factory Ltd. (Crown Cement Group) till 30th June 2020. Before joining at Crown Cement Group, he had served at Holcim Cement (Bangladesh) Ltd for more than 16 years, holding the post of General Manager-Business Development. As a professional corporate trainer, he provides practical, interactive, and fun-filled activity based training. He has conducted numerous training and has 15+ years of experience in training. His area of specialization in training includes Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Marketing & Sales and various Soft Skills. He was awarded as the ‘Trainer of the Year 2018’ recognition by International Trade Center (ITC), Geneva, Switzerland at a gala event in Beijing, China on 1st November 2018.
